Nursing anaphylaxis reaction
Eom Ae-Yong

Abstract
This scenario was designed to teach the nursing of anaphylaxis reaction. Anaphylaxis is a serious allergic reaction that is rapid in onset and may cause death. It typically causes a number of symptoms including an itchy rash, throat swelling, and low blood pressure. This causes the airways to tighten and leads to other symptoms. Common causes include insect bites/stings, foods, and medications. Some drugs (morphine, x-ray dye, aspirin, and others) may cause an anaphylactic-like reaction when people are first exposed to them. However, the symptoms, risk for complications, and treatment are the same for both types of reactions. Anaphylaxis is a medical emergency that may require resuscitation measures such as airway management, supplemental oxygen, large volumes of intravenous fluids, and close monitoring. In this scenario, students could experience of the nursing anaphylaxis reaction.
